Elementary

March 20, 2020

 Liberty Center Elementary Families,

It’s hard to believe that just one week ago we received news about school closures in Ohio. Over the past week, we have worked hard to assemble a plan that will still allow students to continue learning during this uncertain time. Starting Monday, March 23, 2020, Liberty Center Elementary students will move to online learning.

A few reminders about the online learning process for both parents and students:

1.     This should be treated like a classroom when interacting with teachers and other students.

2.     Remember that when you are participating in a video discussion with the teacher, everyone can see and hear what is happening in the background. Try to find a quiet, private place to work.

3.     If you need to go to the bathroom, leave the computer or iPad out of the bathroom.

4.     Teachers are expecting students to participate and complete the work that is assigned.

5.     If you have questions about assignments or expectations, please reach out to your students’ teacher. They are happy to help!

6.     If you have technology trouble, please email me at apostl@libertycenterschools.org

We understand that there may be difficulties securing internet connection in your home, and want you to know we are here to work with you. For those students that do not have access to internet, or have limited internet access, we will provide hard-copy resources for them. On April 1st  from 11am -1pm, parents can drive through the car line at school and pick up their materials. If this time won’t work for you, please contact me at apostl@libertycenterschools.org and we will work together to make other arrangements to get their work. Again, hard copies are only for students with internet challenges. Please be sure to communicate this to your child’s teacher so we can have materials ready.

If your child is in need of an iPad (Kindergarten/Kinder Start) or a Chromebook (grades 1-4), please call 419. 533. 5011 to set up a time to check one out.

There are many unanswered questions about how long schools will be closed. We are prioritizing and making decisions as circumstances change and we know more information.  We will communicate often to keep you informed. Please continue to check the Elementary website for updates.

Continue to help each other and stay positive!

Attention Parents:

Please visit the classroom pages on our website to access materials for students to work on over the next few weeks. Beginning Monday, March 23, the elementary will move to online learning. It is very important that students are accessing their google classroom or Seesaw work assigned by their teachers. If you do not have internet access, please contact your child's teacher. We will be creating packets of work for those students.

In order to provide online educational opportunities for all students during this extended time off of school, parents of students in grades K-4 are able to check out their electronic device they use at school.  If you were unable to pick up their device on Monday, March 16, 2020, please call the District office at 419-533-5011 and special arrangements can be made for pick up.

 2020 Kindergarten Screening:

This year's Kindergarten screening will be held on Thursday, April 23rd and Friday, April 24th at the school. Your child must be 5 years old by August 1, 2020 to be enrolled in Kindergarten for the fall of 2020.  Please call the elementary office at 419-533-2604 beginning March 2, 2020 to schedule an appointment.

Preschool Screener Updates:

In light of recent action from the State of Ohio aimed to limit the spread of COVID19, all Northwest Ohio Early Childhood Developmental Screenings have been postponed through the end of March.

For those who have a scheduled appointment in March, you are asked to monitor the Northwest Ohio Early Childhood Development Screening Facebook page and/or email and/or phone calls from area code 567 for further information as it becomes available.

Scheduling for all future screenings is on-hold for those who do not yet have an appointment.

Lost and Found:

Parents:  Please mark all personal items with your child's last name. It helps us to locate the owner of a lost item.  We like to try to avoid a HUGE lost and found area!

Car Rider Signs:

Dear Parents: To help with the traffic flow at the end of the day, we are again encouraging the use of car rider signs. If you are new to the district, or have misplaced last year's sign, please contact the Elementary office. We will be happy to assist you.

Box Tops for Education:

Thank you for collecting Box Tops for our school.   Each student bringing Box Tops in qualifies for a fruit roll up from the cafeteria.
